I read the graphic novel of this last Fall because it has been recommended to me by a few people and is apparently some great story. I have read some other Alan Moore series and they are a drag to read but usually have a good idea to them and I can usually latch onto that idea at least.
That being said, I have heard that the movie is close to the book. So, I have to say that from reading the book and not seeing the movie I am nervous about the length of the movie. The trailers look epic and the chick seems like a hot slut so I'm into that. But if it is truly like the comic, I can see how it would be tedious at points. There are some parts of the novel that I felt I should have skipped because they were boring and I still don't see how they mattered to the story at all.
However, I think I might like the movie more than you because I did read the book and know what is going on already. My initial reaction to the book seems like your initial reaction to the movie. I should have read the plot on wikipedia first and then read the book.
I don't know how the movie ends but the graphic novel ending SUCKS. I hated it.

Character rundown:
Silk Spectre I-total slut, glory(hole) whore
Silk Spectre II-pretty much a slut, whiny about the whole hero thing, I think being a super hero would be fun as crap for one but she hates it, search me why a 30 year old chick would still be raging against her mommy's control
Night Owl I-annoying superman complex old man
Night Owl II- fat nerd who lost his will to fight and doesn't get it back until he gets some poon, still a boy scout though
Rorschach- AMAZING DUDE, tough as nails, unforgiving
Mr Manhattan- God complex guy, can do really cool stuff
Comedian- total douche, no question
Ozymandias- Has there ever been a more gay/ cliche and boring super hero(villain)?

Sorry if that was annoying at all.

I'm a grown man. I like sports. I fuck chicks. BUT I also read comic books and play video games. I also thought this movie (like the book) is too wordy/long for it's own good.
